Adobe FrameMaker®10 is a professional authoring and publishing solution for technical editors. Create, revise and publish attractive technical documents and, using DITA or DocBook, structured content in XML or SGML. It's intuitive user interface, unified workflows and a template-based authoring environment work together to simplify delivery of content that also conforms to pre-defined requirements for consistency and branding.

The most important FrameMaker®10 functions:

Simple creation and publishing.

The optimized functions for creating, administering and publishing FrameMaker contents increase your productivity and minimize the chance of errors and the resulting modification effort.

New, intuitive user interface.

You'll be more productive than ever when you use the completely revised user interfaces in FrameMaker 10. Use the moveable tool and control ribbons, dock frequently used dialog boxes to have immediate access to the options they contain and setup the workspaces in the way that best suits your workflow.

Fully integrated authoring environment.

When you're creating, editing, or publishing technical content use the powerful features for automatic numbering, cross-referencing, tables of contents, indexes, books, and more. Automate the formatting via templates, and simplify the integration of tables, graphics, and images.

Native integration into content management systems.

Thanks to the enhanced WebDAV support, you can easily add your content into any content management system. The environments for structured authoring and DITA workflows will improve your effectiveness.

Support for complex documents and Adobe PDF.

You can easily create PDF output for complex documents and books. Aggregate topic-based, structured, and unstructured content including XML and DITA files, and generate tables of contents, indexes, and pristine PDF output with CMYK support.

Windows®CMYK support.

Publish composite Adobe PDF objects that support Windows CMYK and hence enable better print capabilities.

Object management for books and DITA maps.

The new dockable dialogues boxes simplify your displaying and processing of documents as well as navigating between areas. You'll work more efficiently with markers, variables, fonts, conditional text, graphics, cross-references, and text insets.

Comprehensive DITA support.

Management of hierarchical documents is simplified by the new functions for DITA maps, bookmaps and much more. You'll benefit from support for xrefs, conrefs, nontext elements, cross-references, DITA relationship tables and attributes, and DITAVAL filtering of output for conditional processing.

Full support for DITA standards.

DITA 1.1 includes the specifications for bookmaps, indexing and glossary entries. FrameMaker 10 also supports the DITA 1.2 Learning and Training Content Specialization (beta version) specification for developing compelling training content.

Incorporation of multimedia objects.

You can create compelling online content by incorporating 3D models, rich Adobe Flash Player compatible animations, and simulations created with Adobe Captivate software. Or you can generate Adobe PDF files with "real live" 3D models.

Functions for simple or structured books.

Profit from the new book user interfaces as well as the tools for hierarchical books or books within books. Incorporate XML files and other structured FrameMaker documents, and reference DITA maps or bookmaps.

Creation of scalable documents from one single source file.

Define output filters, based on complex, Boolean expressions, for topic-based structured and unstructured authoring modes in order to create different versions, all drawn from the same source file, for different channels.

XML support.

Use XML schemas as well as DTD files for definition of documents structures. Comments, variables and conditional text are preserved when importing or exporting structured content or when migrating XML data.
